Shohei Ohtani, the two-way star player, signed a historic 10-year, $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. This deal makes him the highest-paid player in North American sports history. However, a significant portion of his salary is deferred.

In 2024, Ohtani will earn a base salary of $2 million, with the remaining $68 million of his annual $70 million salary deferred to future years.
